Plot:
A strange creature stalks a man lost in a pitch-black cave
Review:
A tame entry compared to other Lovecraft short stories. It lacks the existential dread and philosophical approach to fear unique to Lovecraft shorts. Like most of his works, it is well written, descriptive and scary. I find it strange that was the first story in my six-centimetre-thick Lovecraft compendium. It’s a scary story, a well-written scary story…that is all.
